Jayawardhana Christmas Letter 2014
Best wishes of the season to you and your family. Here is a snapshot of our year…
PRASANTHA
PJ has had a busy but fulfilling year. Whilst most of his mining consultancy work dried up he has kept himself busy continuing on in his roles of teaching Year 6 RI, providing customer support for Acclique, his roles as a Director of Crown Financial Ministries Australia, and The Me I See Foundation Ltd, as well as Treasurer, and now Chairman, of the Grace Lutheran P&F Association. In October both PJ and Prashan joined 24 other Father-Son couples on a Fathering Adventures weekend up at Mapleton which they both enjoyed very much. PJ was also Assistant Coach of Prashan’s U10’s Northside Reds Soccer Team and the team won their division’s final.
GWENDA
Gwenda turned 40 this year and celebrated with a purple-themed party at the Tavernetta in Carseldine. It was a wonderful night with many great memories made. Somehow she managed to organise the whole event in the midst of studying full-time for Semester 2. Gwenda now only has 1.5 years to go before she finishes her Master of Divinity through Malyon College. Gwenda also continued in her liaising role, on behalf of Bridgeman Baptist, with the local School Chaplains but stepped back from leading a Connect Group this year due to her increased study load.
TARUNA
In May this year Taruna went to Googa Outdoor Education Centre near Blackbutt for five weeks as part of his Year 10 studies. He found it to be an enjoyable and enriching experience. Taruna also took part in the FIRST LEGO League Robotics Bayside Regional Tournament, and also the QPEC Ecoman Enterprise Education 2 day business simulation program. Taruna also did well in his academics with his personal highlight being receiving Subject Prizes for Accounting and General Science. Taruna hopes to study Accountancy at University in the years to come. Here is a link to his time at Googa. Taruna can be spotted at 2:03-2:05 and at 3:24 when the camera pans upwards.
RASIKA
Rasika took part in the Middle School musical this year and enjoyed her role as one of the prisoners, and also one of the members of Joseph’s Household, in Joseph and the Amazing Techicolor Dreamcoat. They were both praiseworthy performances. Rasika also enjoyed a steady improvement in her academic results and received A for her effort across all subjects for Year 8. Rasika and Gwenda also went along to the Katy Perry concert in November at Boondall Entertainment Centre.
PRASHAN
2014 has been a year of exploring how this special young man of ours ticks. Prashan has patiently gone along to a Clinical Psychologist, Dietician, Paediatrician, and Occupational Therapist this year, whilst his parents have also attended a few ABIQ seminars and done further reading. In the end it was assessed that Prashan likely has a Sensory Processing Disorder whereby he experiences problems with sensory processing. Whilst his diet is still quite poor his ability to self-regulate when he feels overloaded has improved greatly and he is growing and maturing into a fine young man with many talents. This year Prashan kept active through his participation in the U10’s Northside Red’s Soccer team.
OUR FAMILY
As a family we all enjoyed a three-night cruise on the Pacific Dawn up to the Whitsundays/Airlie Beach in July with PJ’s mum, Asoki. It was perfect weather and the sunsets were beautiful. Also, we again went down to Coolangatta for a week’s long holiday at the start of the December school holidays.
We do hope you have a Happy and Holy Christmas and are able to enjoy a time of refreshment over this Season.
Christ’s Blessings to you all,
Love from the Jayawardhana Family
